DESERT LYNX CATS

Similar to our Dogs, Desert Lynx Cats differ from all other cats. Arlene, who breeds the cats in Selma , Oregon , is a really special lady according to her way of treating her ''kittens''. She has really deep feelings and understanding for her animals and is what one would call a ''cat woman''. I have never seen cats reacting to somebody the way they react to Arlene and communicate with her. She leads her cattery very conscientiously and every single cat receives a lot of attention, which all of them obviously really appreciate.

Following her vision of a tame wildcat, Arlene created the breed of the Desert Lynx. She used a mix of Bobcat, feral Manx, Maine Coon, American Lynx and Pixie-Bob. All her beginning cats were chosen with her best judgement based on genetic health and the purest bloodlines. The top priority is genetic health and character. Large, distinctive spots, ear tuffs and natural bobtail come in on second place. The colours range from Snow Leopards to Blue Leopards, Silver Leopards, Chocolate Leopards, Copper/Ebony Leopards, Marbles, and rare Clouded Leopards. Polydactyls and occasional long hair appear from time to time as well. All of Arlene’s cats are raised in the house as a part of the family.

Desert Lynx cats are bigger than the average domestic cat. They have a wild, exotic look and a very tame, almost doglike character. They come running to you if called, follow you around the house and garden and even play fetch. Many of them even like water and to take a bath.

Arlene’s cats are registered as a domestic cat breed by I.P.C.B.A. (International Progressive Cat Breed Association). Arlene is also active as a judge with IPCBA and as president of the I.D.L.C.A. (International Desert Lynx Cat Association).

Desert lynx cats are easy to handle and with their exotic look and special character bring a lot of pleasure to their owners.
